The Bear Pit Theatre Film Festival

As part of our commitment to showing films for the local community, we are holding this Festival to give an opportunity for local people to come and watch films from different genres, but with something in common.

As we are very much the Community Cinema of Stratford upon Avon, it was logical to choose a theme for the first festival, being films made in or about Stratford or South Warwickshire.

When investigating, however, we were disappointed to discover that the available films are a little limited to those majoring on William Shakespeare and we didn’t want a Shakespeare Film Festival, even though we have included him, which was inevitable.

We hope the selection of films appeals to you and you come and enjoy at least one of our offerings to see how the Bear Pit Community Cinema works. We will continue to provide a facility for the local community to view both recent and important films from the past, particularly British, whilst enjoying a good value social evening, which is what the Bear Pit has become known for, apart from the high quality of theatre productions which we put on.

On behalf of the Film Team, David Derrington, Colin Edwards and myself, I am very grateful for the opportunity of curating the first Film Festival and look forward to welcoming you to one or more of our screenings.
