Stratford Theatre Company in association with English Theatre Milan & Green Shakespeare

@ The Bear Pit Theatre - Stratford-upon-Avon

Synopsis

This highly acclaimed production portrays the everyday and remarkable story of two young women in Tudor England.
Ordinary because we see them going about their daily routines—making bread, doing laundry, gathering herbs, and discussing their future husbands.
Remarkable because they are Susanna and Judith Shakespeare, and their father is none other than William Shakespeare.
The play offers a wonderful insight into the family of one of England’s most renowned men.
Full of joy, laughter, and sorrow at the loss of a sibling, it vividly brings Shakespeare’s daughters to life and gives a glimpse behind the scenes of the family behind the great man.

“Farrell and Gilmour’s sisterhood rang true with infectious excitement and rivalry. They brought a compelling emotional reality to their roles, whether expressing their simple delight in the scent of rosemary, or whether Susanna was reminding Judith of the duty owed to her as the eldest” Stratford-upon-Avon Herald
